ABOUT

BACKGROUND

I received my Bachelor of Arts in Sociology & Anthropology from Carleton College in 2010 and my Master of Science in Social Work from Columbia University in 2013. I have provided individual, group, and family therapy services in school-based, intensive in-home, and outpatient community mental health settings. I have been in private practice since 2019. In addition to participating regularly in a modern psychodynamic psychoanalytic clinical supervision group, I have received advanced training in the following evidence-based treatment modalities:

  • Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP)
  • Eco-Systemic Structural Family Therapy (ESFT)
  • Triple P (Positive Parenting Skills Training)
  • Level 2 Training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy
  • Collaborative Couples Therapy
  • Motivational Interviewing (MI)
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

APPROACH

I subscribe to a relational and attachment-based therapeutic style rooted in modern psychodynamic psychotherapy. My diverse educational and professional background enables me to draw from a variety of evidence-based practices in order to best meet the needs of each individual client and family unit. I provide my clients with warmth, empathy, and unconditional positive regard in order to ensure that they feel listened to and understood. I believe that in most cases the therapeutic relationship itself is the “medicine,” or the primary vehicle for change in therapy. I work in partnership with clients to create a safe, productive space in which they can use guided self-reflection to build insight and organize their thoughts and feelings. When working with couples and families, I primarily act as a facilitator or “holder of the space.” I support family members in contextualizing dysfunctional patterns of behavior, identifying negative interactional cycles, and developing strategies for disrupting these cycles. I do my best to inject humor, hope, and opportunities for growth into each and every therapy session. I affirm and celebrate clients of all cultural backgrounds, sexual orientations, and gender identities!
